Remember my post about the Kia Optima and the VW Passat? Here is one of the Hyundai Genesis, initially released in 2008 and the newly released Honda Accord.
What do you think? Did Honda pull a VW and head to the Korean automakers for some design cues?

Well, I wouldn’t got so far as saying that Honda took a page out of the Korean auto manufacturer, but the rear end of both the Genesis and the Accord do look quite similar. The taillights definitely look the same; both of them have that arch over at the top and the flat line over at the bottom. But if you look more closely, you’ll see that the mufflers of the Genesis were integrated into the rear end bumper for concealment, while the two mufflers of the Accord were kept well out of the rear end bumper.

Yeah, you can clearly see the similarities between the two cars. Looks like they’re twins. But they only have similarities at the rear end. If you look at the front end, the Genesis has bigger grills than the Honda Accord. Plus, they have different design concepts that are reflected on their overall appearances.

The Honda accord is relatively less expensive than its counterparts, but Hyundai beats it in terms of acceleration and performance. Nonetheless, they’re so much alike in so many ways and both are considerably great cars. As for Honda pulling a VW and heading to the Korean automakers for some design cues? I guess we’ll never know.
